Is PC Tools Internet Security a Scam?  Is PC Tools Internet Security Safe to Install?  Any Complaints?

There are no consumer complaints filed against this product.  However, there have been a number of complaints against the company PC Tools for charging credit cards without authorization.

Pros:

-The free trial will identify and block threats to offer real-time protection.  You can download the free trial by clicking here

-This software is a combination of technologies from ”Spyware Doctor” and ”PC Tools AntiVirus” amongst other software by the same company.  Both of these software have been proven to be effective in their malware removal abilities.  Spyware Doctor is certified by West Coast Labs, a highly regarded security software certification company.

-Also, Spyware Doctor is one of only seven anti-malware listed as “Recommended Programs” by Spyware Warrior, a recognized authority in their assessment of malware removal software.

Cons:

-Virus Bulletin, a publication that is also highly reputed in their objective testing and comparison of malware software, tested PC Tools Internet Security twice in 2009 and found this software to have missed some viruses.

-Some consumers are reporting that this software slows down their system.  We would suggest that you either increase the RAM on your system, or run the scans and updates at times when you’re not at the computer, such as during mealtime or at night.

-Several Vista users have complained of problems with running PC Tools Internet Security on the Vista system.

Customer Feedback / Comments:

“I ran a scan of the system, which was quite speedy and very easy to do. The software found 4 threats which the previous free product (AVG antivirus) hadn’t found. It also fixed the threats very easily.”  — Actual Consumer Comments from Amazon[dot]com

“All that being said, the real jewel of this software is Spyware Doctor. I’ve read that over 110 million people have it installed on their machines and 110 million people can’t be wrong…however, it does uses a bit more memory than the two other security suites I’ve used, but if you’ve got plenty of ram…then that’s not a problem. five big stars from me.”  — Actual Consumer Comments from Amazon[dot]com

“I installed the program without trouble and found it to be very easy to use.”  — Actual Consumer Comments from Amazon[dot]com

“One thing about PC Tools, it’s easy to see that it was designed for mere mortals, you don’t have to be a tech god to understand or configure it for your computer and that is a huge plus as far as I’m concerned. It works right out of the box, giving you immediate protection…without having to interact with the program too much at all. All in all I have to say PC Tools is working alright for me and I’m betting it’ll work alright for you too.”  — Actual Consumer Comments from Amazon[dot]com

“The first big plus came with the initial scan. It was easily twice as fast as Trend Micro in scanning the system and uncovered 7 spyware threats that it classified as high security risks that Trend Micro did not catch. In addition, it picked up 92 low risk threats that Trend Micro did not.”  — Actual Consumer Comments from Amazon[dot]com

“It seemed to work ok at first but did slow things down quite a bit. After a couple of months, I started experiencing chronic lock-ups and crashes (blue screen messages). I disabled PC Tools and Voila!, the problems stopped. I am looking for something else.”  — Actual Consumer Comments from Amazon[dot]com

“Completely USELESS for 64-bit Windows Vista”  — Actual Consumer Comments from Amazon[dot]com

PC Tools Antivirus is a great product to have, especialy when you’ve got stubbon Spyware or Trojans that cannot be removed by AVG Antivirus. AVG found 10 threats but could only remove 5. The other 5 we’re memory Viruses so I installed PC Tools Internet Secuirty from the CD I bought and this cleared the probelm. PC Tools I’ve read somewhere has been bought out by the Norton Group and if you pay particular attention to Norton Antivirus or Norton Internet Security 2011, alot of what has been implemented in PC Tools Internet Security 2009 has been implemented by the Norton Group with regards to Norton Antivirus/Norton Internet Security 2011 so with this in mind and with another big company to back up PC Tools range of products, the PCTools range is highly recommended. I used to use AVG Free 9 but this is not as powerful as PC Tools Internet Security which you should buy and not download from any site. I strongly recommend PC Tools Internet Security for it’s poweful Virus removal/Spyware/Malware capabilities. An Antivirus product I would certainly not recommend is Mcaffe Antivirus or Mcaffee Scan Plus since both both products will screw up your PC especially if you run Windows XP. Another problem area with Mcaffee is a buffer underflow problem which causes Internet Explorer to crash with Windows 7. Macaffe have provided a solution to this crash solution but who wants to purcahse a product from a reputable comptuer store that crashes and then you have to go to the manufacturer’s website in order to solve the problem. I’ve used PC Tools Internet Security for three years now and have never had a blue screen problem but then again it also depends on what version of Windows your using, is the current version compatiable with your version of Windows, for example PC Tools Internet Security 2009 is only compatible with 32 bit versions of the Windows operating system such as Windows XP 32 bit, Windows Vista 32 bit and Windows 7 32 bit. When purchasing PC Tools 2011 make sure it’s compatiable with both types (i.e. 64 bit as well as 32 bit and vice versa)- You’ll run into problems otherwise.
